The Votes Are In

The votes have been counted, and the verdict is in…a cardigan duster is a MUST have for the cold months ahead. The extra length adds just enough to keep us extra warm. So, if you encounter a duster and are trying to decide if you should buy it, my vote is YES. I Am With You. Make That Outfit Great Again. Yes, you should buy it. Then, you should pair it with booties, distressed jeans, and a tee and wear that comfort proudly.

Speaking of votes (you know where this is going), several other votes will be cast today. Votes that will be part of a moment in history, regardless who wins. For what feels like FOREVER, we have heard the media screaming about this election. It has gotten to the point where I wonder about all the world news that we have missed because we are so busy hearing about these two. I love America. I am thankful for my right to vote. But, you better believe that tomorrow’s Praise Worthy Wednesday will include a thanks be to God this election is over. Amen.

Whatever happens today, whichever name becomes the face of our country for the next four years, that name will never scream as loud to me as the name of Jesus. Yes, he or she will lead our country, but he or she will not lead our hearts. Only Jesus can show us the steps and the way. Only His name can rise above the others. He doesn’t need an election or a campaign to win us over. He has already done that by making the one promise to us that can never be broken. The promise of His love for us. The promise of the peace He will provide to us. The promise that He will never leave you and never forsake you.

Today, no matter what happens, I pray that your heart will remember that only His name can lead and guide you in the days to come. That Jesus has no rival, no equal, and only He will reign in your hearts forever.

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. - Act 4:12

The Question Is...

We all know that feeling when we get the urge to do a little online shopping.  The first thing we do is hop on our phones and visit all our go-to websites. Well, go ahead and add Dainty Hooligan to your list. While their online store is great, I picked up this must-have sweater while visiting their store in Houston. Now, the only question is, “Will I ever be able to really wear it?”

A couple nights ago, my closet girlfriends and I went to Coco’s Italian Market to see our dear friend, Morgan, her sweet mom, and gorgeous sister. Morgan’s mom is like a second mom to us.  (And she just so happens to double as our favorite trainer). But over the years, she has been a real guiding light to me and a huge example of Christ’s love for us.

On this particular evening, she asked a lot of questions about our group of friends. They were just basic questions, such as “Who is the most laid back? Who tells it like it is? Who worries what other people will think?” While they were just basic questions, it amazed me how much we were all on the same page. But the questions also made me realize just how lucky we were to all have each other. How lucky we are to have grown to love each other like sisters. Isn’t it funny how a couple questions can make you realize some of your greatest blessings?

As a teacher, I ask a lot of questions throughout the day. I also get asked A LOT of questions. But you can probably guess the person I don’t ask enough questions to. There is a difference between saying your prayers and asking Jesus a question. How often do you say the words, “Lord what should I do?” and wait (patiently) for His answer? I tend to pray about the plan I have in mind rather than asking Him what He thinks about it. What question about your life do you need to ask Jesus? What is stopping you from doing it? Are you ready to wait for the answer? God already has your life figured out, but maybe He is just patiently waiting for you to ask what’s next.

The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:7

Praise Worthy Wednesday

Photography by Madi Flournoy Henderson

Does anyone else feel like this week has flown by? Because I do! We have been busier than ever. Even though I am totally exhausted (thanks to Halloween on a MONDAY), I love when being busy involves spending time with my people. From wrapping up our kickball season, showering the most deserving mama-to-be, and celebrating Halloween with some last minute costumes, it was a week for the books.

While I am all about singing the praises, I am also about saying the prayers. So, what are you praising this week, and what are you praying for? As always, my biggest PRAISE is to each of you who stop by my little blog. I am so thankful. Prayers for a great week, friends.

- Praise for this entertaining, talented, caring, always forgiving of my poor fielding skills, kickball team. They bring me more joy than they will ever know. -

- Praise for being reunited with my "boys of fall" at our high school friend's gorgeous wedding. -

- Praise for plaid shirts from Hadley Rae Boutique -

- and Praise for this reminder from She Is Called
